The DWELL smart housing community was a collaborative project of the Lapland University of Applied Science and and the University of Lapland in the years 2019-2021, where Domus Arctica Foundation (DAS) and Arctic Energy and Water (NEVE) also worked as partners. The goal of the project was to develop new types of housing solutions that support community and low carbon. The target of the project is a wooden higr-rise completed for student housing in KELO Rovaniemi.
At the beginning of the project, I worked as a service designer. My task was to do a preliminary survey, identifying service opportunities together with stakeholders. In addition, my task was to develop concepts and define service concepts to be implemented. The tasks also included guiding the workshop with stakeholders. The workshops looked for guidelines for the development of new user services related to housing.
The result of the work package was a concise report on the results of the preliminary investigation and workshops and a description of the implemented service concepts and the operating principle of the service.
